Interesting results after update

Right, this is the first update i've had after I've done some work on my site. What I can't understand is why i have PR1-3 on my internal pages but a big 0 on the home page.

Not losing sleep over it -- but I thought that the PR arrived on the home page and then drifted to the other pages.

    Any ideas?

you must have external links (from other sites) that link to your internal pages

actually the page with the highest rank has no external links and most external links are to the home page which is a 0!

Could you let us know the URL of the internal link that has PR3? PageRank is obtained from the quality of inbound links to a page. A higher internal PR simply means more people are linking to your internal page than your homepage.

Sometimes you get strange results in short run. Hold off for awhile. then the real results will take hold.

  no, it isn't weird. someone is linking in to an internal page (deeplinking) and transfering some of thier PR in to that page. You just don't think anyone is linking in because it probably isnt updated in google (backinks)

My personal website is 3 yers old, homepage has PR1, but i have some really popular travel pages that are over 4 folders deep. they each have have pr 4.

The eacat reason for this is because other sites link to those internal pages, but not as many link to my homepage.

I disagree. I have seen many instances in which the home page has lower PR than all pages. I have one site that has a PR4 index and 18 inner page that are PR5. It's been that way for the last 3 or 4 PR updates.

I think it might be caused by circular navigation (meaning every page on the site links to every page on the site). It seems to do something strange to the PR algo.

generaly PR is calculated on the bases of your internal link so when u had link exchange u done it with internal pages, instead of home page that is why you got PR on internal pages.

I think you are right about the circular navigation because the PR3 page has no external backlinks (according to any of the SE's) and I do have 'circular navigation'.

Will see what happens in a week.
