in terms of advertising and surfing the web, would you be more inclined to click on a 120x60 image or a standard hyperlink?
I do not think I am more likely to click on one than the other. I only follow links of interest and I only click on ads when I am interested in the product being shown. Otherwise, I ignore both. Having said that, though, if ads are disguised as ordinary links, I never return to that website. Under that situtaion, the links are almost never of interest and I never return to the site because it goes into my useless category.
Actually I would click on both providing the Link Description was written well enough to get my interest...
I would have to agree with KeithLDick. But I would have more of a tendancy to click on the link as opposed to the banner. The banner would really have to draw my attention not distract. I often find banners and annoyance at times. To much imput or to little.
I tend to avoid banners. But, if it is a banner that has a point of my interest in its message i will click. the same goes for text links. The message posed and my need have to be in sync in either case.
If you have legitimate links, people will do both. I find that I often have to hunt around for the link, hover over the image colored or underlined text, etc. On my own web sites I use both descriptive text and images for the link anchor so people don't have to hunt around for it. best regards wiz
I almost never click on banners, and am much more likely to click on a hyperlink. That said, I'll usually click on anything that piques my interest, regardless of the format. It doesn't necessarily need to be on-topic, either - if I'm surfing a site about 'Topic 1' and see a link for 'Topic 2', I'll click the link if 'Topic 2' is something I'm interested in. Sam
