Interesting: Google buying sponsored links in search results for itself :)

I tried searching for "download browser" and i saw chrome listed in sponsored results on top position.
Is that legal ??

I checked the target url and it goes to http://www.google.com/chrome/index.html. It is googles own advertising.. Also second in the sponsored listings comes mozilla.com.

 

Of course google is going to want to boost the popularity of their programs. They'll want to boost their userbase

 

And best part is, they can do it for free for themselves. That's the advantage that they have if they control the SE market.

 

I have seen many ads where google are advertising their products like adsense, even Gmail. I guess google can advertise any thing they want to

 

The only problem they would have with it, is if they charged themselves less than they charged the competitor for that spot. (at least here in Australia it would be illegal if they did that).
Not sure about other Countries.

Google can buy sponsored links and do whatever they please,
who is going to punish them when they break their rules

This has been done from when adwords started, they always position well for things related to them, and why not? Also they aint always top either, they are fair, they respect what they spend

 

google is correctly, its free

Its not a matter of legality !!!
Its their own site they put anything they want on it !!
