    Yes, Google keeps his hand of the ranking system, but they edit the other thing lots, like ban some sites, remove some sites, and the -950 penalty etc. They just effect them ranking in other way.

    Agreed. Its not surprsing that they go in and edit some results. I think its justified for the reasons the article mentions.

    they may claim there is no manual intervention but Google in my closed door experiment has been doing website check and instricting penalties right from the start. You can't depend on mathematics to do the housecleaning when a real human eye can do much better
