Keep in mind, that I'm not advertising this forum in any way. I just really liked the way it was set up. The site is dgemu dot com. So, I was looking for ROMs for my NDS, which are basically the games ripped from catridges that can be placed on ROM card, which can contain several games, multimedia, etc. So, I found a website which had an amazingly tidy layout and very easy to download ROMs. I looked up the game I wanted, found it, and tried to download it. I didn't have enough 'points'. I took a look at the FAQ, and was introduced to an entirely new system. On the forums, you get points for posting/etc, and each post or thread/poll gives you a certain amount of points. These can be converted into 'Download Points' which allow you to download games. Its very possible to get the game you want quickly enough as long as you're not totally spamming, but the idea is brilliant. They've added a donator system for points, which has really attractive amounts of DPs for donations. I've never seen that type of set-up, and just wanted to share it.
This is old news. I used to run the same system for mobile phone game downloads on my phpbb forum back in 2002-3 i believe. I had a huge spam problem though.
I've seen other forums where you earn points for posting and then you can turn the points in for cash!
Well these days we can find similar forums where you can earn points and then can make a withdrawal request.
Yep, it's nothing new. personally, a year ago or so when i found out about this site and the system, it was quite annoying, thus never returned to the site and found what i needed in other sites. This kind of system doesn't appeal to me, but i guess alot of others would find it cool.
