Interesting find on McDar's Google tool

I have found that if I search on www.mcdar.net datacenter tool, that if I am only showing 10 results my site is coming up #10, but if I switched to 20 results it is #11 and if I switch to 50 it shows up at #14.

This is strange to me that some sites will show up when showing the first 50 that don't show up when just doing the first 20.

Anyone else see this. (I hope that there isn't a thread on this already)

    Hi,

The reason for what you see is that, when two results from the same domain appear in the same page of results, they are clustered.

    Example 1 :
When the page http ://www.domain1.com/ should appear as 3 and http ://www.domain1.com/blahblah.html should appear as 9, Google shows clustered results : http ://www.domain1.com/ as 3 and http ://www.domain1.com/blahblah.html as 4. If your page was calculated as being the 10th result, it appears as the 10th result.

    Example 2 :
When the page http ://www.example.com/ should appear as 3 and http ://www.example.com/blahblah.html should appear as 19, nothing happens if you ask for the first 10 results. If your page was calculated as being the 10th result, it appears as the 10th result.

If you ask for the first 20 results, Google shows clustered results : http ://www.example.com/ as 3 and http ://www.example.com/blahblah.html as 4. If your page was calculated as being the 10th result, it appears as the 11th result.

You are right (I think-I couldn't quite figure out your math) but 3 sites show clusters if I have 50 results shown showing my site at #14 - but when only showing first 10 results it is #10

by why does it change when showing more results? Has this always been?

I have never seen this myself before now. What got me to look closer was the fact the keyword tracker was show #10 but when I used mcdar I had no server show #10 since I was showing first 50
