It kind of makes me wonder if given the choice, how would people vote if indentured servants or slaves possibly allowed, especially in those states.
I think most people, even in the southern states, would not want to go back to slavery. I think the majority would agree slavery is wrong. I believe what it is that most southerners stand for is, the right to defend what they believe. I dont think the civil war was about slavery as much as it was about pride. The south didnt want anyone to tell them what to do. I think that attitude still remains.
Do you have a map that shows where the descendents of slaves live? That might show you something you weren't expecting (or would want to deny.)
I think you are probably quite right. Perhaps it's also about fending for one's self, less accepting of change or "progress" and the "fundamentals", like religion, family, etc. Maybe the Northerners/Urban folks have a different view point, that continues today.
Interesting... I didn't realize that people hadn't dispersed since the Civil War to the North or West. Pretty much stayed in the South. From: http://www.censusscope.org/us/map_nhblack.html
hmmm. interesting, so the states with the highest percentage of black/african-americans are in the.... ... .. red states??? Impossible.
(trying again, since first time I posted this it just never appeared... strange.) Here is a map that many seem to either ignore or can't handle:
That was Cheney side that owned the slaves right? (since they are related and all part of the illuminati.)
Most southerners didn't own states but the same reason we fought England is the same reason the South fought the north over rights of states to decide their own rules and laws.
That may be the case. The OP probably doesn't know that there was were actually thousands of armed black confederate troops and 13,000 of them saw battle. Robert E Lee had a number of black regiments in his Army and black confederate units were some of the last defenders of Richmond and Petersburgh.
Im from the south, born and raise in Petersburg Va (big civil war site) Im not for slavery at all, but i am glad we stood up for something rather than letting the north run over us. Regardless of what it was about.
