Just read an interesting article. http://www.sitepronews.com/archives/2005/apr/11.html Might explain why the DP co-op doesn't seem to do much for google rankings...
Can you give any more info? Such as: How long the site has been indexed by google. Proportion of co-op links to permanent links from other sources. How long those links have been in place. How long in the co-op. Competitive KWs? Anything else you can think of (that you don't mind sharing) that might help to understand what's going on. I've seen great results on Y! and MSN with the co-op but absolutely no change with Google whatsoever. Most of my co-op targeted sites are quite new, so the sudden jump in Y! and MSN has been quite noticable But not all sites - some are quite old sites that use to do 'ok' in all three, but after 'florida' have never really done particularly well on Google (not 1st page) Is it your opinion that the link-aging filter theory is incorrect? Would love to get some of that free Google action again - traffic from MSN is pretty crap, bit better with Y! and, from what I remember, (free) Google traffic converts pretty good too - (adwords visitors convert WAAAAAY better).
IMO the age linking factor does exsist, but it mearly means that not the FULL weight is given to that link, it still does give SOME weight to it. There will always be given some weight by SE's to new links, otherwise they would not be quick enough to follow up on new phenomena, such as disasters and news items. For me the co-op works very well in Google too, it just took a few more weeks, in comparison to MSN/Yahoo, to see the results.
Agreed, altough i believe the more competitive the keyword , the longer it will take before the links will benefit from the full weight.
Those patents are not necessarily what's already in place. More about what has yet to come. I have a few brand new pages I chucked some weight at and got #1-6 in Goolge in no time without any other links apart frmo an internal sietwide img link. The phrase is competitive enough, plenty of searches 2M (it used to be higher actually) results. I have no time to go into it deeper.
