An article submitted to SEO BUZZ made quite an interesting read for me on the recent craziness of Google.

    http://eonte.com/seobuzz/story.php?title=Google_Scares_The_Search_Crowd

    Excerpt from the article:
"On Thursday, Web site administrators for major sites including the Washingtonpost.com, Techcrunch, and Engadget (as well as Forbes.com) found that their "pagerank"--a number that typically reflects the ranking of a site in Google (nasdaq: GOOG - news - people ) results for key search terms--had dropped precipitously according to Google Toolbar, a software program that tracks Google's assessment of a site.

Bloggers immediately began wringing their hands. Google stayed mum, even in the midst of the company's parley with analysts on the same day. "

Perhaps nothing new to many of you guys but just thought it was interesting to hear about what others had to say about this event especially popular bloggers and SEO specialists..... :)

I am resigned to it. Google is King, even Microsoft MSN, Yahoo is no match for it. When the King says so, it has to be so :(

that is not very true. They are the most powerful now, but if this trend continues, i don't expect it to last too soon. Webmasters, bloggers and influential online businesses will not want to work with Google seeing the way they treat them.

even if people dont want to work with google, as long as they dominate the market, people will work with google. it's only when advertisers pull out that a different might be made

Google is doing nothing wrong, they are making pagerank reflect correctly and not make pagerank a how much can you spend on text links rank. ;)

Yes, for me Google manipulate it, remember when day when i went to a Google meeting, and I asked them, why everytime website drop from Google serp, they response me, did you try Adwords ? :) this is all...

This is a monopoly, you, me and many webmasters know about that situation, but 10000000 or more, who use Google everyday dont know about what happend in the underground Internet world, this is why Google will continue be the first search engine...
