I'm not affiliated with the site (it's in the same general space - see sig) and was intrigued with its linking strategy (site is www.learn-street-magic.com) It's currently a PR 3 (and I do understand the limited value of PR) It's link make-up is here: http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/advsearch?p=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.learn-street-magic.com&bwm=i&bwmf=s&bwmo=d&b=1 The vast majority of its links are from You-tube sites gained as a result of linking to videos. If you look at the source - those links are rel=no follow. Any thoughts about hwo they are doing so well? Thanks Dylan
It looks like they have very good on page content, the keywords are well structured within the content. they have made good use of thier meta-tags. They also have 97 pages indexed in G see site:www.learn-street-magic.com Looks like they have done a good job, from a brief analysis.
Google isn't giving any weight to those links http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&q=link:http://www.learn-street-magic.com/&btnG=Google+Search&meta=
When you say that they are doing well, do you mean the little green meter being a 3 or do you mean that they are in top positions in the search terms?? It isn't too tough to get to be a 3 when you are in YouTube and others that are similar but to achieve the top keyword positions to be is doing well!
Thanks Guys - I was more looking at Alexa rating and comparing it to a few sites that I own and then extrapolating out to some visitor figures. On retrospect - it probably wasn't the best way of working through it. Did some more fiddling and can see that ranking is not necessarily all that high for key phrases. In that case - it might illustrate the distinction between tactics to generate traffic and tactics to generate ranking. Thanks for everyone's input. Dylan
it's intresting but when i clicked on the youtube links. i did not see any links on youtube to this site
It's always better to have traffics than ranking; but ranking is kind of the path to getting natural traffic, of course.
Hi trichosis - if you click on the small Links tag immediately below the video - there's comments, views, honors and links I think - the full list of sites linking to a you-tube video is shown. You can see it better in the source perhaps. Dylan
Ah, sorry to bring back an old thread, but this is my site and I left it alone for a while. I decided to check the links to it today and found this page hehe. I guess Dylan was checking out the competition. But honestly, I have no idea how it's doing so well. I linked it from a couple of youtube videos (which ranked very high for 'Criss Angel" a popular magician) which were pretty much viral videos, so the traffic was amazing. Penguin Magic, a competing company, decided to report my videos for copyright infringement and now I get minimum traffic...
