Hello all, new member here. I am currently researching for a large school project which involves creating an interactive tool for exploring data. Here is a link to the kind of thing I'm talking about

http://cabspotting.org/client.html (heh, kinda strict about new members and linking I see)

Basically a lot of data is accumulated over a span of time, and transformed into meaningful information through graphics. My idea is to allow the user to adjust multiple parameters such as the time-span. There are many examples out there where users don't have much room to interact, but I am looking for examples where users are able to really explore the data. If anyone could point me to something like this, I would appreciate it very much. The truth is I don't even really know what to search for. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks.
