As far as I'm concerned you should go for a bit more expensive Intel if you want gaming computers
and AMD for a bit cheaper multitasking computer.

I'm no expert on this matter.

Definitely Intel. My experience with intel is the best. Brand image is also good.

Intel owns the PC Market, releasing many chip sets in smaller period, go for a SandyBridge 2500k or 2600k, or wait till the end of year, 2 more new sockets will be released..

In my viewpoint, AMD is the best. AMD offers better features at a lower cost and performs way better than INTEL.
For work environement, INTEL is a big disaster.
For personal use, INTEL may be used.

How exactly AMD offers way better performance over Intel, and Intel is a disaster?

You may want to take a look at current CPU architecture and re-consider your viewpoint..
Intel's bridge (Sandy and Ivy) Owns AMD's Star wherever you go.

Anyone wondering which is the best CPU, needs to take a look at this article, then decide for himself:

Have used both Intel and AMD .Although Intel is much faster than AMD chipset in performance wise, for gaming purposes AMD is still the best.

    Quoted for truth.

I've just been looking through the hardware section on this forum and I cannot believe the amount of bad advice that's been given here. If you don't know what you're talking about I'd suggest you don't bother posting. People stating AMD is better performing than Intel at the moment need their heads checking. The only thing AMD are good at at the moment is churning out half decent cheap processors, they simply cannot compete with Intel in terms of performance.

For a great Performance I choose Intel. But for the Balance between Price and Performance AMD is the chosen one, you can get 90% performance of Intel core with a 50% pricecut using AMD.. :)

Intel, For better performance. But heard in my study that Compaq has invented a processor and send it to market.
It was good but for this reason Compaq's business gone down.
As everyone has trust on Intel Processor, how to believe it is good.
The mistake Compaq has done is it changed its all laptops and computers processor with its own.
    Compaq should have tested it.
I've till a question in my mind. Has compaq really made a good processor like Intel?

I like Intel. usually it work simple and faster. AMD also work much faster but it has some requirements. Moreover AMD is more stronger and long lasting processor. it can work with 64 bit also.

Nope, Compaq never made a good or bad processor like Intel or even Via for desktop, laptop or server..

You have no idea what you are talking about mate, do you? You just had this urge to post something, anything at all so you can run the post count...

in the past, amd had some problems with the heat diffusion, but now it's getting better but i still think intel is the processor to go for.

Once again people get confused on what chips are really the best for the price. Intel has some of the best motherboards to PSUs and overall RAM. They are number one in the world for a reason. AMD only ranks not even 15th in the world as a true competitor. AMD you will be replacing motherboards after 2 years compared to solid Intel mixed in with better components.
