Does anyone know if there is a good way to calculate the predicted savings in adding additional insulation to a home? I recently blanketed my attic in R-33 fiberglass. I installed this over the existing R-9 or R-12 that appears to have been up there, along with some blown insulation. I want to see if there is a good way to calculate the possible expected savings in heat loss and or home heating savings. Anyone? Thanks.
Hi Mia, I don't know you found any solution for your Insulation Problem or not.. But i want to give you one reference for future purpose.. If you want to calculate Insulation, Heat Loss calculation, Surface Temperature, and Thermal Insulation. Then you can take help from German Based Company named "ISOWTC" they have Advanced Calculation software which i written above.
Only took five years to get an answer! Thanks! BTW, just a follow up. The additional insulation made a HUGE difference. That same year I also converted to compact fluorescent lighting and found that the enormous cost to convert coupled with the unreliability and short life of fluorescent bulbs meant the cost savings turned into a cost overage. I went back to incandescent.
