I have been using the google api here on the DP keyword tool and I have done so for more than 2 years my searches are not even 200 (api can handle 1000 per day if I remember correctly) and I only check 2 or 3 times a week Lately not all rankings are searched and when I try to do them manually I get the error Insufficient quota for key: googleapikey_googleapikey Anyone know of anything to prevent someone from abusing my API Key ?? What time does the Day begin for the API key ?? (so I can make the calls myself before the other guy gets a chance to use it)
I am getting the same error with DP tools.. Just started today. I check daily for 3 or 4 years with no problem until today. Has DP been hacked or something?
Don't know.. Mine worked last night for about 10 keywords then died again. DP is the only place I have ever used it. I was hoping a MOD would read this and respond but I guess that is not going to happen.. Who do we report it to?
Is it possible that there is something wrong with the API? I'm not sure which API this tool is based on - just came across this thread on a search for problems with the old SOAP API.
Not unless google changed something. I dont think that happened or this forum would be blown up with stuff like this. The key is good it is just that someone else is using it.
It is happening to me as well. I wonder if Google has cut down its maximum? I just logged on to see if anyone else was having trouble. best regards wiz
Someone reported this trouble a couple of years ago, but no solution was posted. On the Digital Point FAQ it lists the following: How many queries are you making to the Google API server with my API key? The Google API is only able to return 10 results per query, so to lookup a single keyword placement, it can sometimes take more than one query. The N/A position keywords are the ones that really tear through the queries... As an example, an account that is setup to look 200 positions deep, and has 25 N/A position keywords will go through 500 (half of their daily allowed) queries just for those keywords. Keywords with no last known position (N/A rank), will take one query per 10 positions deep your account is setup to look. If a keyword has a last known position, and you are still within the grouping of 10 around it, it will find it with a single query (it starts looking at the last known position). Otherwise, the system will start at the last known position, and branch out from there with queries until it finds the new position (or it hits the limit of how deep you want it to look).
To the OP or others that have an soap API key and only use it periodically ... I'd be more than happy to set you up a custom solution and set aside XXX queries per day if I could have access to the leftovers. Not sure exactly what you are checking (SERPs or pages indexed) but I could easily write a solution for you that would check it daily and you could just login and view the report ... archive them for you and all. I'm an honest guy whose a helluva programmer but requested a soap api after they cut the system off so none were ever available to me. If you have leftover queries, I'd be happy to work something out for you on my dime (meaning no charge).
I think someone is using them, you have to do your scan before the hacker does or you go over your limit for the day. Frustrating, but you can't get a new key from google since they are not giving them out anymore. Someone probably made up keys or hacked DP to get them.
I have concluded that this is related to the problematic results that have started happening the last two months lots of my searches return N/A meanwhile they are holding first page positions, and due to this the script is trying to look through the rest (200 in my case) results and wastes lots of queries ....
