I owned a domain that had decent traffic and earned a steady income. I sold the site several years ago and visited the site from time to time to see what the new owner had done to improve it. Long story short, I check a few months ago and the site was no longer up. I thought maybe a temporary server issue, but it never came back up. I checked again last week, and still, it has a default registrar page. Anyhow, so I decided to not let the content go to waste and purchased a new domain (a brand new domain name) and setup a new site using some of the old content. After one day, I've already started receiving traffic and generating income. How and why is this even possible?
Hey there Mcmuney, There's a few answers to this really.... It's either that the competition is extremely low, and you were able to rank for some great keywords. or It could just be a temporary ranking spike due to google's constant daily updates ... Monitor your rankings, and see how permanent it is, and how long it lasting. If it does in fact last, then it's because competition is extremely low. It doesn't matter that you used old content, the moment you move some of the content around, and add to it a bit... that's the moment that google considered it fresh content haha! Also, it might of helped that the guy who bought the site is no longer live. Either way, i see this as a great problem to have! haha Take Cares!
Yes, it is possible. If your old domain is not working and the content on new domain is same as old then you don’t need to do anything. Once your website gone live you will get automatically reward of you old site.
Now if you need then create relevant links for your website , this will increase your ranking and if you need more traffic then use SMO .
