my personal opinion here. This is only relevant to sites that sell products or services, not make money from advertising. Put up a phone number, and make it the highlight, seem like someone is available to pick up the phone and point visitors to it. A 'real business' has someone staffing the phones all the time during the day right? Pay for a pbx or just have it forward to your cell.
It's a good idea, but lots of people put fake numbers or do not want people calling their phone 24/7 which is understandable. If you have a help desk than it's a good idea, if its a personal site it is not. If you want credibility just have it look nice and keep it updated.
Ditto. I tried the phone method. I put the hours on when they can call. I got mostly stupid questions, and weirdoes calling. If you have ever read my posts here, you know I do not have patience for stupid people, like the ones on this board, so I quickly yanked that number down. Dumbasses. Seems like a good idea on the surface, but....
I use an answering service. If it is an international number, you can always get a 1800 number and forward the calls with a virtual pbx
The "call me" method is very good but only for pre-qualified prospects and high priced products or when you work with distributors or sub agents under you.
i think its a great idea. how many people will call anyway and if you're not prepared to communicate with your customers how can you build trust? Tim
that is a good idea for big business people. visitors will become sticky.... but i think many put fake numbers there....just to show the visitor that they have 24 hour help desk. and most visitors normally dont use phone service, but they will think that number is true.
