Hmmm if you just going to have a signup page and not letting people see what's inside, and/or not show how search engine will craw it, do you really expect people will take their time to sign up?

When you sign up, under "Edit Profile" choose business profile and insert your site info and if you want professional profile to network with others, you can do that too. You have the options to make parts of your profile private or public, this way you don't get spam and also people interested in you product/service they can contact you too or suggest things and ask for advise. Overall it is an excellent marketing tool for small businesses and they have lots of options to market their site, products, services both locally and globally.
