Installing WordPress

    Hello:

I'm new to the forum and to WordPress. I have done a lot of reading and I'm very confused as to which directory I should install WordPress, root or subdirectory.

I am trying to create a brand new website which will have static pages (home, contact, services, privacy, etc) as well as a blog.

I want people to type the URL for the website as normal, http://www.example.com and have it display the home page which in the past I would have created an index.html page and it would be uploaded to the root directory.

At the same time, when I create my navigation, I would like to have a button titled Blog and point to the location of the blog.

I would like to use WordPress to create both the static pages as well as the blog.

When I unzip the WordPress files, which directory should I FTP the files? Root or subdirectory?

Then, how do I determine the URL for the site and the URL for the blog.

    Can someone help me out?

    Thanks in advance.

I've done way too much reading I think and I'm over analyzing everything. This is probably a lot simpler than I'm making it out to be.

    Dear full locus,

All you have to do is install the WordPress normally on the root of the website and go to the options on the wordpress admin dashboard called Settings -> Reading.
Here you will find the below 2 options:

    Your latest posts
    A static page (select below)

Set the home page as a static page you created and the latest posts page as the blog page.
This should get your required job done.

    warm regards
    Joshu
