    Hi dp'ers

im setting up wordpress for a new project, but i want to set it up in the root
    so instead of

    www.mydomain.com/blog

    it would be www.mydomain.com

is this as simple as just putting the files directly into the root?

or will i encounter some problems?

if this is a problem, does anyone know of another way to do it?

    thanks!

    You are correct.
Put the files at root. You should not encounter any issues.
