I've been trying to install Simple Machines Forum for a while now after messing up my first attempt and completely erasing the site, but every time I try it gets stuck in an "redirect loop" when I try to go to the install.php file any suggestions? PLEASE HELP!!!

I've tried it both ways, installing first and installing after I was prompted for the info. I was only able to successfully install it once earlier but I messed that up big time, I've been trying to reinstall it ever since. PS: The working one did work fully so I do not have a server problem.

UPDATE: I just found out I can not put anything else on the page besides an index.php it will only accept an index.php file, I know this because when I took everything off the page it had an error saying index.php was not found. I have a coming soon page up there now. Is there any way to install it like this? PS: This is an add on domain I think that is why it redirects to the index.php, if you can think of a way to change the redirect or install it without using a sub folder please let me know. Thanks!

The coming soon page that you have, should probably be index.htm(l) or you can use .htaccess to set the order in which pages get served.

I have installed SMF quite a few times and love it for the most part, I have even used it with an index.html file in the same directory.

The way that I install it would be:
    1) Create database
    2) Upload all files
    3) Point your browser to the install file (default: http://www.mydomain.com/forums/install.php) or if you upload it to the main directory (http://www.mydomain.com/install.php)
    4) Input all information
    5) Once install is successful, before you log in to your admin panel, delete install.php
    6) Build your community

If you have tried that and it's not the right solution, you can send me an IM and I will try to help you further.
