Guys i have a virtualmin control panel in my VPS currently. I want to offer shared hosting to people so i want to install a control panel on my VPS. The vps in running on centos. I want to install a new cp so that i could offer people shared hsoting service at some price
cPanel or DirectAdmin. But you will need to completely reinstall the server. Two different control panels can easily interfere with each other. So, if you use virtualmin to setup your virtual hosts in apache, you cannot do the same in cpanel/directadmin, because cpanel/directadmin will not even be able to see the files because they keeps them in a different non-standard location. Same goes about all the other services that cpanel/directadmin is using etc...
See, i will explain. I bought a dedicated server. My provider installed virtualmin on it. I have created a private server on it. Now on that private server i want to install a control panel without messing up the other private servers on the dedicated server.
In that case you are on the right way. Just buy a cpanel or DirectAdmin lincese and install the control panel on the VPS. That's it. With cpanel you can get a 15 days trial by default, with DirectAdmin you can also get a trial but you will need to contact them directly. Anyhow, I will suggest you getting a cpanel if you want to sell shared hosting. It is much easier to use than DirectAdmin and shared hosting users are also more familiar with cpanel. But since you have a dedicated with virtual servers it won't hurt to create another VPS and install DirectAdmin there. That way you will be able to offer both control panels.
obviously I can not send links for some reason. Try to PM me or send me an email to and will send you the links
I am really good with virtualmin. I just need a VPS in it to be installed with cpanel or zpanelcp so i could offer shared hosting to others.
I would highly recommend installing cPanel. It is the industry standard, and user friendly. The 7-15 bucks a month (depending on who you host with), is well worth it! So what is the issue, do you need a tutorial on how to install cPanel or?
So you have Virtualmin installed on your dedicated server and you want to now create a VPS with it? I thought you was good with Virtualmin?
kks21199: You dont need to reinstall anything, you can start selling from your already installed Webmin (if its root server, not user installation). Billing systems like WHMCS allows automatic account provisioning on Virtualmin. Or you can do it manually. Just install Control panel of your choice accoding to the billing system you want to use (i mean so it is supported in billing system). cPanel cost $15 monthly for VPS, so not so cheap, but its surelly one of the best option.
I assume that you have a dedicated server, and you: have installed some sort of virtualization on it (OpenVZ ?) have created one or more VPS servers. (I assume that the virtualization and the VPS are configured correctly, with IP assigned) need to install a control panel on the VPS If that is the case, you can purchase a control panel license, simply log in your VPS and follow the installation instructions for the control panel that you've selected. Some of them even have a special versions for VPS servers (like cPanel).
