This is true. I use WP a lot and some of the really popular plug-ins (Cforms, Sociable, AJAX Star Rating...) all have none valid CSS.

I had a look at phpBB3's (default) CSS structure and it was a total nightmare, they have several entries for the same thing, all overlapping. It's valid but it's a nightmare to work through even if you have Firebug.

If anyone reading this wants to learn properly and quickly, free, at home, use this link to join Lynda.com free for a week, most of the lecturers are Adobe Master Certified as well, which means they know what they're on about, you'd hope..

Don't say I never give you (all) anything eh? :p

Interesting. I'll have to look further into it.

I have noticed that the validator extension for Firefox I have does not require a couple of things for XHTML 1.0 strict, that I don't use.

I wonder if that is it.

However, there are several Firefox validators, you may want to try some others. It is a lot easier than using the W3 one.

The real validator is easy too: I have the site bookmarked, and copypaste the url in : ) You can also upload from your own machine too.

With Firebug you can right click and inspect an element, its really good, it gives you the full Cascade order as well which can be a massive help.

I also started with DW, but reading about the benefits of the CSS and tablelless coding, i started to learn by checking free templates and changing things in it too see what happens in the template. In my opinion i learned quite quickly the basics.
