Hello everyone Just now i installed Chrome OS in SUN Virtual Box, it is an online operating system by google launched 2 days ago. The login is nothing but your gmail username and pass. Everything is online. Even the menu is loaded from internet. I am sorry to say this, it is totally slow and not worth a try. First failure product from Google! Google docs will be your notepad. Google Boasts it takes 7 Secs to load. Well i ask "What do you have in that to take 7 Secs to load"? Definitely not worth for a try. Don't waste time. It needs some high speed internet connection. WIFI not supported some times. You have to enable Wifi when you get into operating system, but the login needs internet. lol. Some times i see nothing loaded in the OS. My score 0/10.
I think the ISP's need to catch up with google and the demands of the consumers. Cloud computing is definitely the future and faster internet connections have to be made available to the consumers.
I don't want to give every data to google. And when a single gmail username and password is lost All the work is lost.
There are flaws with everything. I have two hard disks lying in front of me that have crashed one had about 500GB of data on it and the other 300GB.
Chrome OS is still in the initial stage and i believe people at google should not launch it without proper testing.
sure, I'll lay my "nads" in Google's hand to let them gently fondle, or crush I believe I am going to take your word for it and keep clear for now.
I think that now that the Chrome OS has hit the public open source development community, it will start to get built upon. I mean it is not supposed to be a finished product by any means at this point is it?
Are you serious? You're reviewing and rating an OS that does not even exist yet and won't exist for another year. lol Google have only released the source code, not the OS. Did you compile the source code into your own OS? Is that why it sux? Did you compile it onto an SSD or a normal drive? Is that why its slow? When Google released the source code to the open source community to "play" with, they probably had bets on how long it would take before someone mistakenly reviewed it as the final product.. Who would have thought it would happen this quick.. lol I will probably wait till next year and listen to the real reviews before making any judgments. Thanks anyway Cheers James
Yeah, it'll be interesting to see how Google evolves and develops the Chrome OS. It is rough and unpolished at the moment, and just about any Linux distribution out there can beat the pants off of it. They have to bake in more 'offline' capabilities into it, not everyone is always in the cloud everytime they're on the computer, and they need to realize that. Otherwise they'll only appeal to a very limited niche audience. Paul
Cloud Computing is a ruse IMO. I'll keep buying servers and server software for the duration. I won't keep sensitive data on any machines but our own. I also block parsing agents, robots, and ip ranges that originate from the so-called cloud ... Cloud Computing is just screaming to be abused, by anything from the script kiddies to professional spammers and crackers, and I'll have no part of it.
That means if your ISP is down for some reasons or your connectivity is having some problems you can't work at all.
You need a minimum of 3mbps speed for a good experience in google chrome OS. You must have used it in 256-512 kbps. Check your internet connection. Btw, Google chrome os is still in its development process. It's to early to comment.
So, the new requirement of operating system is You should have 3mbps connection. Requirement = 1GB RAM + 3Mbps Internet connection
You need a good connection speed - that's the main requirement. because the total concept of it is to store everything online.
