Hi Guys, So my Digital Point straw poll led me tom install WordPress at: http://walking-languedoc.com/Blog/ Not a great start, eh? And that was via a Fantastico download that was apparently going to make everything simple! Now what am i supposed to do? Shall I delete it and download via the WordPress homepage? At least then I imagine there's some continuing tutorial? I've just moved from Windows to Linux and had a similar problem with files listed instead of my Home Page. Resolving that involved opening up the file called .htaccess and putting a line at the top of it: DirectoryIndex home.html Home.html index.html Index.html This tells Apache to look for any files with those names. If it's a related problem, what text do i need to insert? Regards, B.
Hi, That was quick! So as I've already got DirectoryIndex home.html Home.html index.html Index.html shall I just add index.php at the end? Thanks, B.
Sorry, I'm not making myself clear! In order to make my domain Home Page visible, I was told to put the coding DirectoryIndex home.html Home.html index.html Index.html into the .htaccess file. If I delete Index.html, the version I'm using, I fear it wont show up, so if The Blog home page is is index.php can I put: DirectoryIndex home.html Home.html index.html Index.html index.php and they should both load normally? And as I'm using Linux, which is case sensitive, should I put Index.php instead? Best wishes, B.
I don't think you are understanding B. wordpress ONLY uses index.php. the rest is not needed, and you should not have the other files in that directory. the code gived to you should work just fine.
