$$ install FFmpeg on Hostgator Shared Baby Plan - easy $$$

    I need someone to help me install Ffmpeg on Hostgator Baby Plan (shared).
    or mencoder
    or make a script that can add a text or image watermark to a video.

    I'm afraid it can't be done izzy. FFMpeg install would require root access which HostGator does not provide. You would need either your host to install it, or else a VPS \ Dedicated server.

    Can not be done on a shared account as it requires root access.

    No. It can be done if you have ssh privilege.

    HostGator gives jailed SSH. You'd need root SSH to install ffmpeg.

    Normal bash shell will do. I have experience on installing ffmpeg on OpenSSH installed shared hosting (DreamHost). Not sure with jailed SSH but I am very sure that no root SSH is required to install ffmpeg.

    The Shared Hostgator seems very tricky to install FFmpeg on.... Lol

    It's doable on shared hosting you just have to specify the paths in your scripts to where you install it. Or you could try using dolphins portable binary but there might be more to that one since i never tried it.

    Ffmpeg install need root access and sharing hosting don't give that access. Instead you can go shared hosting provider who already have ffmpeg pre installed in their server 4 u.
