Just wondering what peoples views are around the different options in terms of advertising in magazines. I am especially interested in what peoples take is on either advertising in the magazine itself as an advert vs an insert...which is better ? are there any generic / rule of thumb response rates or something from each type ? I am am no marketeer, but as I see it there appears to be pros and cons of each....am favouring inserts at the moment as when someone opens the magazine, it falls out and hopefully there and then the advertising is there in their hands. Of course they could then just throw it away ! What are peoples thoughts and experiences ?
I usually glance at an insert before throwing it away. Obviously you need to start by reading the publication's rate card to see if an insert is within your budget or whether you can only spring for a small classified ad. If you are no marketer, then perhaps you should delegate your advertising plans to someone who knows more about it.
Hi, thanks for the response. It is not so much about the budget as both are ok as per the rate card (not that I ever pay the rate on the card..... ..... it was more about trying to get a handle on which one people generally think is more effective for them ? I have to admit that I also generally end up throwing away inserts when they are in a magazine......however does that mean therefore 'inserts don't work' ? - not sure....
