Don't know if this belongs in this spot but I will try anyways. A month ago my web page www.vamoosevarmint.com was wiped off the face of Google only index page remained. Had some suggestions from you folks here and added this line that was missing,<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">Two weeks later bam everything came back, all cached and running smooth and steady receiving good hits . Now the past couple of days I have been watching it all disappear again . MSN and Yahoo still good. Is this something that is common for many of you and is it something that will eventually go away . I was looking at a possible 3000 unique month with Google, but I don't know if this will happen this month. I know that is not a lot but with the type of market and what people are looking for it is pretty good. Thanks for your help so far, and thanks for reading Dan
The meta tag you added will have no effect at all on how the search engines view, spider and rank your pages.
I was under the impresion that it might be looked bad to google with a possible code issue not having the charset.
No, Google will definitely look beyond the META tags... I'm pretty sure that the META (charset) tag was not the culprit behind your problem. I had the same problem with my site a few months ago... but with time, everything was back to normal.
everything was back this morning, its just funny how in two days everything is gone and then all back the next day. I don't see the interruption from YAHOO or MSN like i see with Google. Is it just something that is in the Google algorithm or are they so popular that they have to clean house often. Dan
That meta code <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> is for compatible with browsers and it will not affect any search engines view on ur site. Most of the sites will have this meta tag.
