There is more than 1 year since I decided to work as a full-time marketer and even if I focused just on SEO techniques I have one problem related to what can be onnovative when it comes to SEO. Correct if I am wrong but most of us are promoting their products by using the old SEO techniques, nothing significant changed in the last 2-3 years. I haven't seen an e-book with SEO experiments. More than this, I contaced a SEO company to help me to promote the health products I promote. I am making 2xxx every month, but I wanted to see what new methods do they know. The results? 0. Even if they are considered a top company in my country they used the old SEO techniques. When do you think, this will change? Are we prepared for big changes?
SEO techniques in themselves haven't changed a great deal in the last couple of yers because the agolrithms of the major Search Engines haven't - rather boringly they still rely on backlinks (too) heavily. Online promotion and marketing, however, is going through a period of major change as people use social networking more and more for personal recommendations for sites/ products /services.
I have seen some really good responses for some linkbait services on this forum (funkymario was one of the guy if IIRC). I personally know SEOs who have shared some cool techniques with me. Most of these are short-lived methods but give good results. Apart from that most of the methods remain same.
The old saying goes 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'. So if you have good techniques to get rankings there isn't much need to change things. Not much has really changed in seo lately though. There are plenty of people with new techniques, but those are the ones dominating search engines. They are unlikely to give up their secrets. Link baiting is definitely one strategy that will be beneficial regardless of what happens with search engines. Just think in terms of what techniques will work long term and there isn't much need to be too innovative. To be innovative you might have to do the seo experiments yourself and you might not benefit any more than using traditional techniques.
