Overview

I created Innovation Zen in mid 2006 to share the load of information that I gathered while writing my degree thesis on Innovation and Technology Management. Today it counts 283 posts and 717 comments, and most of the archived articles are long and structured pieces, like these examples:

The site is a PR5, Alexa Rank of 260,000 and 15,000 backlinks according to Yahoo. It also ranks on the first page of Google for several related terms, including:

• disruptive innovation
• crowdsourcing
• business acronyms
• radical innovation
  

Why I am selling it

I am selling it because I don't have enough time to dedicate to it anymore. For the first year I used to post one article every week day. On the last 6 months this number has been decreasing, and in November I only posted 3 times.

Despite the lack of commitment the blog is generating from $350 to $450 monthly (details below). I am pretty sure the right person could bring this figure to $1000 monthly after working on it actively for some months (that is the reason for the high price in fact).

Below you will find screenshots of the WEEKLY raw logs analyzed by Weblog Expert software (for the past 4 weeks). I don't have any stats software on this server since I was not working actively on it:

As you can see the raw logs report around 18,000 weekly page views from 8,000 unique visitors. Multiply by 4 and you get 72,000 monthly page views and 32,000 uniques. I know that log files tend to overestimate numbers so I think it should be around 60,000 monthly page views from 25,000 uniques.

Revenue Details
There are 2 main sources right now: Text-Link-Ads and Google Adsense.

Text-Link-Ads is generating $180 monthly from 10 links sold at $40 each (you get 50% of the money, and 2 link buyers have discount). The company just raised the price for the links on the site to $80, so as new buyers come this revenue should jump to $400 monthly.

Adsense started making decent money in October when I introduced large square units blended with the content (prior to that I only had 1 sidebar unit). The revenue depends on the posting frequency.

On October I posted 7 times and it generated $237. In November I only posted 3 times so it earned only $157. The good thing is that the keywords of the site are very competitive, summing October and November the average cost per click was $0.65.

The blog is also listed on SponsoredReviews.com, and once in a while I get review requests (at $50 a pop), but I turn them down. If you are willing to do sponsored posts I think you could easily add an extra $200 monthly from them.
