I would like to see rules that are posted followed up on by the Administrator or Moderators in this forum. I have seen behavior on this forum tolerated that would NEVER be allowed on any other forum to which I belong.

This is an example of rules from another forum prohibiting the hositility going on here:

This forum has wonderful tools and some nice members. However, I would like to see it cleaned up, upgraded to a more professional level and flame wars prohibited. Who is minding the store?

One of the reasons DigitalPoint is the best SEO forum on the web is because the administrators are not completely insane, like the admins of some of the other SEO forums which politeness prevents me from naming.

I am not certain that I want DP to become a police state like many of the other SEO forums.

So yes, we do put up with the a certain percentage of annoying posts. Overall, I would say that this is a small price to pay for the latitude we experience here.

Yes, when I saw the title *Inmates Running the Asylum* I just had to look for them :) I found the "flame wars" in this thread Hello from Israel and have just been reading through the posts.

Apart from Ms. T's multiple inflamatory posts it seems quite tame to me.

We are human beings and it is only natural for us to sometimes loose out temper and get into some discussions that can be seen as a "flame war". However, I haven't seen any threads really get out of control.

I, for example, just can't stand spammers, you will always see me calling them idiots or something worse... ;)

    Terri,
The thread you are talking about is one that you highly participated in (12 posts). I agree with some of your posts, but you have to realize that there is just no reasoning with some people and leave it alone. People are free to speak there minds and if you don't want to hear it, I suggest putting them on your "ignore" list (I've done that in the past with a particularly irritating member). From the little bit I read of the thread in question, it looks like a couple members coaxed a certain member into voicing there beliefs/opinions (then decided they didn't agree so it's wrong?). Simple as that. It would be another story if a member was posting things of that nature totally unprovoked. I think the whole thing is silly, quite honestly. ;)

I have been on all the other forums in the past 5 yrs and this is the only one I like.
    Why?
because it is actual and factual (though some members have a lot to learn ;) )
You don't have to worry about voicing your opinion just because the mods may not agree with you.

Try that in the forum mddv talked about the other day (not trying to bring it back up).

I prefer having people piss me off.

That is what freedom is all about.

Speak it, live it .... and LOVE IT!!!

If Shawn managed the forum as you suggest you and SiteTutor both would have been banned Ms T and that would have been the end of the trouble that you keep alive.

Your problem is this, you think you are a leader in this forum and if one does not agree with your position they should be silenced.

You are the poor forum player and are the one along with SiteTutor that caused and are still creating all of the trouble. Then you have the nerve to ask Shawn to change the forum management to suite the one's that cause the problems in the forum in the first place. That is outrageous with all due respect.

The thread is there for the record and the only fabrications are from your side.

You rarely see any kind of flame outside of General Chat. I stopped reading that thread after the third post but I don't insist it be edited or people be banned.

That thread quickly became not for me so I CHOSE to not participate and ignore it.

I mostly post to two forums that couldn't be any more different in their levels of moderating. I like both and wouldn't change either one.

Take this forum for what it is and either be a participant or don't...At least its up front about it and you have to respect that.

I have always stood by my posts and have never wanted them struck from the record as some seem to want. It seems that some have problems standing by their statements.

So if we do not like the end result of a debate, by the way Ms T would have it the thread should be taken down and members who disagree with her banned and forum management completely shook up.

How much more outrageous can a members requests become?

Freedom of speach comes with disagreement and to much agreement makes for a dull conversation.

I have seen some forums where the mods are power crazy and that I dont agree with.

Digitalpoint is fine the way it is. Most of us are mature enough to understand that there are boundaries you shouldn't cross without good reason. I've goofed before and argued once with sitetutor and made a few posts here and there that didn't really contribute to the discussion, but I think in a mature community such as this a little freedom will mean a huge difference in the long haul, in terms of user retention and happiness.

Exactly. Some may argue that TV is pushing us over the border to McWorld, or that it is taking away our ability to think for ourselves, but the same people forget that there IS a power outlet and you CAN yank it from the wall. If you don't want exposure to ideas you don't accept, you can usually just ignore them.

    A spanking! A spanking!

You must spank her well, and after you have spanked her, you may deal with her as you like, and then, spank me.

    And spank me.

    And me.

    And me.

Yes. Yes, you must give us all a good spanking!

A spanking! A spanking! There is going to be a spanking tonight!

And after the spanking, the oral sex.

Humanity has spent its entire history looking for the meaning of life, simply because its expected to be simple and comprehensive, simplicity is a simplistic dream.

God im in a Zen mood today.
