Inkjet printer - My Inkjet printer is on its last legs been going for years but its that time to get a new printer

Any recommends for a printer around £150 . But what I would like is a inkjet printer that does not gobble up ink as in the UK they are expensive ( for a bit of plastic and some ink made in china )

Are these three different colour printers (carts..) better and cheaper to run . I only print off about 100 pages a day but carts.. never last long

Or would it be better and cheaper in the long run to get a lazer printer

Not looking for anything fancy as only print docs and lables

    Thank you for your time

My old Epson Stylus 850 gave up the ghost last year and I bought an Epson Photo 900 - I was disappointed it ran out of ink so much quicker than the 850 :(

I used to work for a company where we had an HP Laserjet 5 series I think, it was mono but took and used a few reams of paper everyday. I remember it was very reliable and cost effective.

So with that in mind, I recently saw an HP color laser for less than GBP300 - Laserjet Color 2550L - there's some reviews at the foot of the page though only from a guy who's had it for 3 days

Much, and @ 100 pages a day it will not take that long to recover the higher intial cost.

You can buy cheap carts eg. JetTec, PrintRite etc which are a lot cheaper than the official ones. These are just as reliable and contain as much ink as the official ones - and some JetTec ones contain 30% extra! As for printers, don't buy a Lexmark: they have the print head built in to the cart and so even the cheap carts are expensive!

Hmm.. I'd say, get a laser printer... Most inkjets are too weak to handle 100 pages a day! :)

I had 2 inkjets, and I successfully destroyed both of them (an HP and an Epson). Inkjets are extremely fragile..

I then gave up, and got a laser printer (HP 1010). I am very happy with it.

But, if you decide to get an Inkjet anyway (we sometimes make the same mistakes twice! I myself bought two inkjets!! :D), then don't buy original ink! it is very expensive for nothing. Go with the advice of qscomputing... :) Get third party ink, it is MUCH cheaper, and delivers the same quality!

I got lucky and picked up a pair of HP LJ4p's for $100, so we have one upstairs in the wifes office and the other downstairs in the server room. They aren't the fastest things around, 2ppm? But very cost effective.... I was buying a new inkjet printer every year, it's getting to where a new printer is cheaper than buying all new cart's for the old one. I'll stick with the old lasers.

That's right. You'd better buy laser printer for heavy duty use.
