Question, I have been in SEO for 6 years now and I am looking to do SEO in house. My issue is that I won't have my bachelors degree until the end of this year but I still want to jump into inhouse SEO. My question is, in your humble opinion, would you or any other company hire someone with 6 years experience with a proven track record but no degree? Side note I do own an SEO consulting firm that can be found on the web and has lists of my clients. The rest of my background is in investment sales PS....This is not me look for a job posting, I just to know if someone would hire me before I graduate. Thanks!!
sure some would hire you without a degree and some won't - depends on the company and their guidelines.
There are plenty of smaller companies that understand it's all about what you know, not what you've accomplished in school. Real world experience is worth more than school world experience.
There will always be some companies that will overlook you without a degree. For others, if you can demonstrate that you excel in this field then there is no doubt that you would be employed. Cheers M.
My friend Degree is for those who are fresher and you are not fresher, you are expert as you are working in this seo industry since 6 years. Only a fool will not hire you but you should prove anyone either a big or small company that you are something unless you are no where even with a degree of seo. Right so if you are expert you can prove it. Cool mate
Put together a portfolio, with sites/keywords you have successfully ranked. It beats any degree by a long shot.
Now a days in any industry, there is a requirement of knowledge and skills not the degree. You can definitely get the good job. Well let me give you an example for your question: "there is a boy in india, who had completed all lessons of SAP with more than distinction marks when he was studying in 10th and his age was only 15." He was hired by India's best IT company (i am not sure about company name so avoiding to mention here). Company paying him more than $ 4k." It's just because his excellency towards to his field. I think as long as you can present yourself in a professional manner and prove you know your stuff... then your in.
My degree is in another part of the computer world, and I have no problems finding SEO work. If you know your stuff it is pretty obvious and you will find employment.
I think hes wondering about not having a degree at all. To my knowledge there isn't a degree in seo or sem
here's an update... ive been contacted twice from a fortune 500 company. They wanted to pay 45k-50k what a joke.
