I have an ING Direct image ad that appears all over my website, this has caused my ctr to collapse drastically. Unfortunately I have found it impossible to get rid of it. Right clicking on the ads provides no properties to get the url, I found the same ad on another website but clicking on it takes you to ingdirect.co.uk which I already have on my competitive ad filter so obviously its being redirected through a different url. Right clicking on a text ad from the same company gives the url clickserve.uk.dartsearch.net, unfortunately placing this on the ad filter didn't work, i also tried clickserve.net and dartsearch.net, these didn't work either. Any help? Should adsense be allowing these types of ads to appear? Surely advertisers shouldn't be allowed to hide this information from webmasters. We should have the final say on what ads appear on our websites. www.rickygervaisshow.com
goto your "adsense setup" then click "competitive ad filter" then enter any urls of ads you do not want click "save" Done and Done
you can try all the other extensions like ingdirect.co.us, ingdirect.com, ingdirect.co.in etc. and put them into your compititve ad filter. IT takes upto half hr for google to read from compititive ad filter and block those ads.
yes competitive ad filter is the right way to do so..you can get the url by hovering your mouse cursor on the image ads. and look in your browsers status bar below left. remember dont click just hover.
I have tried all the above suggestions with no joy. Remember hovering will only work with some image ads, it will not work on ads using flash animation, even right clicking on them will only give flash optons, such as zoom in, show all etc. I have also tried lots of extensions but the ad still appears, I dont think this is a spyware issue, the correct url in the ad filter would stop it from appearing. The ad is obviously being redirected through a third party url, finding this address is proving difficult.
Install Adsense Preview Tool Here is the support page https://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/topic.py?topic=160 Once you are done, check what all ads appear with the preview tool, then click on that and note the url, then add it to your compitive filter. It will solve your problem. PS:: So you will be safe.
Sounds stupid, but have you thought of just running text ads rather than image ads, this might resolve the problem. Sorry if you've already gone down this route but it would be a quick and simple solution.
SaurabhMit: The adsense preview tool only gives details of text ads, or at least I've never seen it give details of image ads. lightlysalted: I may well have to switch back to text ads, the reason I switched to image ads was that it doubled my ctr, obviously now this ad has put an end to that. The bigger picture is that advertisers should be open about how their ads are directed. It shouldn't be this difficult.
