Thanks alot for the info VC. Its very helpful. And it will protect NEWBIES from getting infractions.

BTW, i have a question: "If someone get 10 infractions and get banned. Then if 1 of his infractions is expired, will he get unbanned? OR he to wait till all of his infractions are expired?"

    Thanks

yes, you will be unbanned if one point expire. And once you get another point, you will be banned again

What is more sinful putting an affiliate link or thread started in wrong category?
Since for first one I got an infraction for 1 month, for starting thread in wrong category I got an infraction for 3 months
Can you please post the kind of punishment one gets in terms of months the infraction last as well.

    Yeah I have 3 infractions:
    - Swearing, 1 month (even though it was f*** not the word written out)
    - Duplicate thread, 3 months
    - Wrong Category, 3 months

Personally I think the wrong category is pretty ridiculous (I usually have 10 or so tabs open, I posted the thread thinking I was in a different tab and different category)

Duplicate thread and swearing fair enough, 3 months for wrong category though... it wasn't a completely wrong category either... it was for my new directory accepting submissions, I submitted it in the Link Development section accidentally (hey, its a way of getting links :p)

Before coming to DP I posted at places with more users and no infraction or reputation systems in place. The forums ran much smoother, the community sorted out people pushing the bounderies, you had more freedom to speak your mind without worrying about offending someone, and it was much more fun.

While moderating a forum is something that needs to be done when you have multiple mods that aren't on the same page about what is acceptable it simply causes chaos.

Nevermind the rep whores running around giving people red because they disagree or those that give red and sign somebody elses name on it out of malice. Reputation should be reserved for calling out scammers, spammers, & the sort otherwise it will and is being abused.

Just an opinion but one I'll probably get slammed with reds for as usual.

Sep 24th 2006, 12:40 am that's just ridiculous  if mod's are going to start going back that far maybe they should just do a temporary ban on every member of DP and shut the site down for 6 months. It would sure ave them allot of time doing that then going through years of posts and giving infractions for all of them from a year ago lol. Sep 24th 2006, 12:40 am thats funny.

when an infraction expires, is it dead for ever. i mean completely over and no more trouble one can get from it. or it still adds up to the next infraction.

say, someone got 1 infraction, then after 3 months it expires. then after 3 months he get's another infraction, is it 2 now.

and how many infration may ban someone, dose good reputation, lot's of posts etc, helps prevent ban from infraction at times.
    thanks.

Once an infraction expires, the points associated with it go to zero. The bottom line is not how many infractions but how many points. All infractions are not equal. They are weighted between one point and five points. New users are banned when they receive five infraction points/old users when they reach ten.

Good one, ahkip. Actually it is not for the "f" word, the "c" word, but the "s" word - spamming.

If someone steels someone elses design's then tries to sell them as there own is that banning offence or simply put aside ?

Even lets say when a mod knows about it and knows the designs are stolen ?

    Just wondering :)

    Or infraction ?

Mods do not intercede in disputes between members. We are not in a position to adjudicate disputes. Haven't you ever spun your side of a dispute to your mom when actually there is a little more to add that what you are telling?
