Just to start off with, I am not moaning. This is simply an idea which would help some people know quicker when they get infractions here at Digital Point. Not sure if this has been discussed previously, therefore I do not know anybody's views, but I just hope you will read and leave a comment about what you think. Instead of having infraction notices sent by email, what about if they were sent via PM? I have received one infraction in total in the time I have been here at Digital Point... And it was later reversed after I pointed out that a Moderator misinterpreted by message, and the Moderators were happy to correct it for me. I know that you send out quite a few infractions (by the amount of people who moan, lol), so I understand you may be worried about overloading the PM system with unneeded PM's... But there again, I can bet 100's of unneeded PM's are sent every day by members. Also, this will stop those moaning that they didn't know about the infraction because they didn't have the correct settings or they don't use their email address they registered with anymore. What do you all think?
That is not the point... The main point is the fact of people cannot moan. Currently, people whinge saying I didn't know I had infractions etc, if the infraction notices were sent via PM people would have no excuse whatsoever.
They are already sent via email AND they can see them anytime they visit their UserCP. If someone really cared enough, they could set their infraction notification email to forward as a text message to their phone. That way they REALLY know instantly via text.
Hi DP. Thanks for replying. I think you have misunderstood just a little. I'm not taking about users wanting to know quicker. I'm talking about those who complain that they never knew they had an infraction. I think this is a fool-proof way of stopping that without a doubt. - Tommy.
You run into other issues... someone's PM box could be full, some people don't read their PMs. PMs are auto-deleted after 30 days, etc. Just because YOU read PMs, doesn't mean others do. If someone doesn't look at their UserCP *or* read their email. It's their own issues more than anything. The only real way to make sure they know they got an infraction is to call them and talk to them about it, and that's not gonna happen.
More than half of the people have never ever seen anything like user CP. If they did they would know about the Rep feature which hardly people are aware of.
You make a good point, but I still think more people would read PM's than read their UserCP. But it's up to you mate... You are the boss.
