I guess it's because nobody is reporting those posts as being pointless - maybe they aren't recognised as being pointless because they deviate from the normal realms of pointlessness.

I completely agree with what you're saying. Another pet hate, since we're talking PR threads, is people who start a new PR thread when there's already ten other threads talking about the same thing.

All those pagerank update threads will be merged when we see them or receive reports.

I wasn't talking about new threads Smyrl, just so you know, I meant the replies in them. :D

i think its more about intent. When you look at someones post history and they have 25 posts in a row all saying "I agree" or "send pm" especially when the thread is years old its pretty easy to see there intent is just to run up the post count and I then give infraction(s)

When its 1 thread and 1 post and its pretty on topic... its a different thing (in my thinking anyway)

Moderating at dp isnt rocketscience ;)

I would agree... except that apparently some mods would think that I personally have a need to run up my post count. I don't. :)

I thought it was unusual for you to post down here. So would I be right in thinking this thread is to indirectly complain about an infraction you've received? An infraction for post padding perhaps?

No, but you would be lying if you said you did. :)

The infraction I received was a while back. It's already expired. But yes, it was supposedly for inflating my post count.

    -Michael

So I got an infraction for starting this thread? What is that, a joke? How was me asking why people weren't getting infractions for obviously useless posts "inappropriate"?

I think the answer lies somewhere in this line...

Though honestly, if you did get an infraction for this thread, then WAY TO GO MODS!

I'd say read the rules here, but meh...

I am totally missing your point... are you saying that it's normal for mods to be clueless, that brains aren't required for the job? Most of them are not idiots, just so you know.

Wtf are you talking about? You mean this?

This wasn't a "wah" thread, and it wasn't about an infraction I received. You'd pretty much have to be a complete f'ing dumbass to think that it was.

    Is that what you thought?

They are already being awarded infractions.

"Running Up Post Count/ Post has no value"

If they did that it would remove the whole "Lord of the Flies" psych trip going on, I can't see that happening.

No, no... I wasn't attacking him, and he has since told me that's not what he thought at all.

I still do not understand what the infraction was about, although I have a guess... my hunch is that someone not so bright reported it for being a "wah" thread, and the mod looked at the title, but couldn't be bothered to actually read he thread.

Oh, i know what you mean.
It's like someone opens a thread asking for some advice, and you have great informative replies with atleast some thought put into them, and afterwards you have replies such as "do social bookmarking" and "exchange links", ya know - the half sentence replies. These can really get me!
Or if someone has a question regarding something, and people actually bother answering it with a decent explanation. But then, ofcourse, you see the famous "yes it is" "No, it's not" replies one after another.

Thread seems to have outlived its usefulness and is now only leading to feuding and fighting.
