I have received 3 infractions (all in 5 minutes) for bumping this thread: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=365670 Was I? I was updating the price once a new bid was received, to keep the auction organized, which is what everyone does. I did not even double post! I posted last night and today at noon when I logged in, it's not like I dug an ancient thread and bumped it.
You did 3 bumps within 35 minuets, I suppose the mods considerate this as bumping. Today, 7:56 am Today, 8:02 am Today, 8:15 am Today, 8:32 am
Why oh why must people keep starting these whining threads about infractions. You wrote an update 3 times in 30 minutes. You can edit your post if you want to do that but three in 30 minutes is considered bumping. Chances are you will get another one for starting this thread. The mods are not out to get anyone and you have the edit feature for a reason. Please check out the rules up top and read every bit of them. You are not banned, move on and just be more careful after that.
Yes, but as you can see I did edit 2 of my posts there, in order not to double post, but it's senseless to edit a previous post once a new bid is received, aint it? IF someone wants to give a new price, how will he know what's the current bid, slim chance he will read through all the history. I just think "bumping" is when you dig out an old thread and bring it back to top, and i DID look in the rules, but it does not say that there is a minimum of X posts you can make in a given time frame, so all I am saying is, if there are such strict rules, it would be good if they will also be detailed.
You changed your price three times in five minutes? Why didn't you just edit your post? But seriously, you have to think out your sales threads very carefully before posting them. I've read this board a lot and have seen this mentioned several times. Study first, then make your presentation. PS. the thread looks OK to me, maybe it has been cleaned up?
Read this thread :http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=216611 Bumping is anytime you post to get your thread to the top...three times in 30 minutes does that !
Hmm, ok, I see it now, i just thought a 'bump' is posting in an old thread, or double posting, which was not my case, as I was just replying to others, and like I said, who does NOT do it in links sales forum? But anyway, thanks for the info and your replies guys, much appreciated.
I don't. I've had to close 5 or 6 threads without a sale because I wasn't going to risk bumping them back to the top.
I got 7 infractions in five minutes for bumping. I understood I shouldn't be bumping after the first infraction, and didn't do it afterward. Is it really necessary to give 7 for the same thing, in less than a few minutes?
No, was not cleaned up, this is exactly all that was posted, but anyway, I seem to be getting bad reps and 1 infraction for THIS very thread too, which reminds me of "Silence is Golden" saying Its good to be in the majority then I did not receive them right away, it was about half an hour later and came in a batch, so it's not like I kept posting AFTER the red points were received, but I agree that normally after one red point it's already clear...
Is it really necessary to break the rules over...and over...and over? Thankfully we have the infraction system to weed out people who "just don't get it"....ie, YOU!
Party @ GNET's. I am sooooooo there. I will bring the chips and some games. We could play "Tag The Thread Bumper". But I would recommend you not to ever, ever bump a thread 3x's in 35 minutes. Tsk, Tsk
The triangle with the red outline and ! in the middle of it. You will find this in the posters post, in the upper right hand corner.
When I first joined I did not know that saying "PM sent" was considered bumping. I was not warned until I received all seven at the same time. I read the rules, (thought) I understood the rules, and did not break them again after the first warning. Now I'm 7/10ths to getting banned with breaking rules less than the majority on this forum have. I understand the system is in place to catch repeat offenders, however the system should be revised so it's more of a warning tool than a banning tool. The point of moderators is not to ban users for first-time rulebreaking, but to teach them how to understand the rules. I think the first infraction was warranted in Lorelei's and my case, however the ones following should not have been given unless the offending posts were posted after the first warning. The problem isn't that an infraction was given, but that many were given for the same minor thing at once.
I think that you and everyone else needs to just learn from their mistakes. As long as you keep a clean slate from here on in you will be fine. I personally have two infractions.
