Ok, I recieved an Infraction for the following thread

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=2550810

because it was posted in the wrong thread. I know it was wrong of me to post it there, but the fact that I couldn't post in the B/S/T section at the time, should technically justify me doing that. At least I believe it should. If not, I am sorry or taking up your time.

Yes, you can be sorry for taking our time.

    Your reasoning doesn't hold up.

Let me rephrase your question as follows:

Would you still say, "At least I believe it should"?

Or in other words, "I know I was breaking the rules but since I couldn't do what I wanted to do without breaking the rules, I think I was justified".

I already did lol :) I don't know why this thread is still open anyway. I mean, its not like one infraction gets me banned, and since like they say, i guess i do deserve it. W/e :)

i was banned with only 4 infractions, so dont think you cant be banned if you have under 10.
they bend the rules here at will

Well, they do it by points, not by the number of infractions. So if you had 4 infractions, and they totaled at least 10 points, its possible that was the reason you got banend. But then, I might be wrong. Well, ill just try not to break the rules anymore and that will hopefully not get me banend.

1 infraction is 1 point, i had two one point infraction and then got a 2 point infraction and banned with a total of 4. so you dont need 10, just a click happy hippy. ;)

OH well. As long as you don't get anymore, you will probably not get banned, although don't quote me on that one lol.

Wait, let me get this straight - he wasted your time? Like, aren't mods supposed to do that ? This is weird, in every other forums, mods are appointed to clean up the mess and keep a forum clean. Its their DUTY! Thats what they are there for!

I hope I don't get an infraction for this, just trying to make my point. I am a mod at a hugely popular Indian Tech Magazine's Forum, but its totally different from the way you guys see it.

Read his post and then mine, again. It's not as serious as you may think and Minstrel explained it well.

And no, mods don't have any strict duties. Members have more than mods, pretty much. This is not a conventional forum.

Like I said, this is not your ordinary forum so you can slag us off or criticize us and get away with it.

Yes, we like to leave responsibility with the members, not with the staff so they waste their time cleaning up people's crap.

The OP made some kind of weird conclusion and then tried to justify it and suggested himself he was perhaps wasting our time. I agreed with it. I didn't think he was offended so all is cool.

    That's right TOPS30,

This forum is privately owned and run just the way the owners sees fit. Maybe one could start up a Forums Constitution to regulate Forums operations? Do you think Shawn would make changes to make this forum fall in line with what other forums are doing? Not a chance. That's why DP is by far the best forums in the world. That's why so many new members are registering and so many keep coming back.

    Col :)
