Information Overload; Please Help!

I would like to start off my saying I HAVE used the search box and Google, only to find more things asking for money.

I have been doing research on how to make money online through blogs, and it has been about six months since I discovered it. At first it was simple, but before I started I wanted to know everything I possibly could on the subject. Six months later, I have not even started a site up yet. I have read too much information and now I don’t know where to start.

I remember it seeming simple at first, looking at keywords and seeing only a few variables, picking one or two out and doing some research. Then I came to the part about back linking, which had hardly any information other then I need links. I did more research on that, and it eventually led to me seeing a lot of different eBooks and programs that wanted me to buy them. I am not fast to buy such products and do research on them and their tactics which ultimately lead to more research, and this process repeated again and again. Now I have found this site which is not trying to sell me something but rather provides a place to get help from other people who all have a common interest: to make money using internet traffic.

Here is what I think must be done step-by-step along with any questions I have:

    1) Niche Selection

Search different keywords and find related ones (Recommended Programs? I have looked at Keyword Elite but it is too
expensive, thought I have recently found Master Samurai (something like that) on this site and it looks much better)

    Look at competition

Decide which one is most profitable and realistic

    2) Content

I have been looking into outsourcing articles and that seems to be the best way. I found programs that provide articles, but they wouldn’t last according to what I have read due to duplication. I have heard of several, such as Freelancer, but does this work?

    3) Website Creation

    Buy Hosting and Domain name

    Download Wordpress and install it

The tricky part: setting up the pages. Any way (program) to make this easier? And is it possible to set it up so it automatically publishes new posts (unless you update it, Google thinks it is stale, right?)?

    4) Indexing

Get indexed. How long does this take?

    5) Monetizing

This part was confusing as there were so many different ways; Adsense and Banner ads. Which one is the most profitable
    and easy to manage?

    6) Backlinks

Most important part from what I have read. There are programs and such to create them and it seems people spend a lot on them, but what does this money go to? Am I missing something here?

    7) I am missing #7?

Sorry for the long post. It helped me to write it though, as I cleared up some of my own confusion. Any help greatly appreciated.

I would recommend two free courses for you which I have personally used.
the thirty day challenge and the series of emails course over here
    http://www.caroline-middlebrook.com/blog/bloggers-bible/

These help you to know how to get started with creating your own blog or website so you can start making money from the internet.

For point 2) Yes, you can outsource article creation and writing works on freelancer websites. You can also use the Buy/sell/trade section of this website to find suitable article writers.

    3) There are ways to 'sechedule' blog posts on Wordpress using plugins like autoblogger.

    4) Indexing can take any where between several hours and several days.

    5) Use adsense ads until you get sufficient traffic. Then sell your ad spaces in this forum in the appropriate threads or using sites like BuySellAds, WebAdSpaces, etc. There are also several alternatives to adsense like adbrite, bidvertiser, etc.
