Information Overload... Confused over optimization with many similar phrases/pages.

I'm a small business owner who has had to hit the books and learn the hard way. I'm in the middle of a site redesign and just learned about over optimazation issues.

I've listened to three hours of podcasts on the subject and I'm in information overload but still have questions. I'm also under pressure to get a lot of this taken care of by Monday so it's ready and up when customers start coming via Ad Words (this is why I used the ! icon) but I need to build these pages correctly in order to avert problems when the new pages are crawled and judged by "the penguin".

My business is appliance repair and this could be a real problem. The pages for Maytag, Kenmore, Whirlpool (etc) service are all pretty much the same cookie cutter with slightly different text tuned to each brand. The pages for dryer repair, refrigerator repair, etc. are all in the same situation.

People don't go to my pages for a good read (content). They come to me for service. Most people don't have time to deal with appliance problems so they need to see the facts at a glance, make a fast decision if they're going to call your or not and then either call or hit the back button and look for someone else.

Yes, I will put in plenty of content with tips, a separate page for each one and I'll be submitting it to appropriate blog sites, etc... but the people who come to my site as the result of a search want the facts in a clear and concise manner so they can make a decision about who to call because they need their machine fixed asap.

On my services page there are 9 different div's (one for each applaince) that tell people the typical problems we handle... "Leaking" is listed in over half of them. "Won't Start" is in even more.

    Ad words contradiction:
Due to ad words landing page optimization I should be making a page for each issue, appliance and brand I service IE: "Refrigerator Not Cooling", "Kenmore Service", "Washer Repair"... but the three classes of pages will be made up of pages that have much the same look and feel as each other. And THAT sounds like a recipie for being tossed under the "over optimized" bus.

Tips, links to appropriate threads, etc. are all greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Scott

Don't over-think over-optimization! If you're posting unique content relevant to your company you're totally fine. If you're publishing duplicate content used everywhere else on the web go back to the drawing board.

Thank you both for taking the time to reply.

Ok, so these two general things won't hurt?

    All on the same page:
Washer: Leaking, Not Spinning, Not Draining, Not Filling...
Dishwasher: Leaking, Not Draining, Not Filling...
Refrigerator: Leaking, Not Cooling, Not Draining...

12-15 Separate pages that I write myself for Kenmore Service, Maytag, Service, Whirlpool Service, (etc) that are almost perfect copies of each other with the names and logos changed.

    nesrinamb:

That is precisely the approach I'll take to a massive section of the site on tips. Each tip will be it's own article. It's the "at a glance" pages that have me concerned.

I'm trying to not triple think this... but I think the repetitive approach that I almost have to use would concern anyone considering the latest round of screaming and crying post-penguin.

    Thanks
