Im trying to expand my marketing from just making articles into blogging as well, but i have no idea where to start, ive never used a blog before

ive signed up for a blogger.com account (is this a good site to blog on, any other recommendations? im willing to work on more than one at a time lol)

and i just dont know where to go from here, do i treat it like any other item, filling it with keywords and content? do i instantly start making big articles in it with lots of keyword use, or do i slowly build it up over time with a post a day or something?

any tips to getting my blog seen? all help is appriciated

Well if you are use to writing articles you will be a good blog writer. As for me I just do it for fun =). I recommend using your own hosting and getting your own domain if you want it to be a serious blog. If you need hosting let me know haha

well i havnt quite built up enough revenue (how much does it cost to build and maintane a website for, say a year?)

ive started this with no revenue invested, so far im about 300 dollars up, but only have about 150 left to invest (extra money is never good...it dissapears too fast lol)

im planning to start my own site soon, once i start getting the hang of how to do things, but im not going to go that route until i know wtf im doing, im still very basic at online marketing, and have alot of learning to do, thats why im using free tools atm

with that said, im looking for some advise on how to write a blog, that way when i AM ready to get my own site and domain for it, ill be good to go

A few quick tips to get you started:
    • I would recommend getting your own domain and using Wordpress as your blog software. A cheap host with Fantastico makes this a one-click install.
    • Writing for a blog is very similar to article marketing except you are putting all the articles on your own site - but still titles and keywords are mucho important.
    • As far as length - write short or long however you feel - but the more often you post to your blog the better it will do - posting at least once a day is a great goal (I wish I could stick to it myself - but I am spreading myself thin over 7 blogs)
    • Pick a theme that fits your topic - customize your layout to make you unique - use the contest forum on here to get a kick-ass logo/header
    • Be sure to use a few key plugins - "seo-all-in-one" is a good place to start
    • Throw some adsense on your blog - you never know it might make you a few bucks even while you are just getting started
    • Submit your sites and have others submit your sites to social media/networking sites like stumble, digg, technorati, etc.
    • Write good thought provoking, helpful or scandalous stuff and people will find it

    GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY BLOGGING!

I like Namecheap for domain - $9.29 a year and Bluehost for hosting - $7 a month - there are even cheaper hosting out there (I even bought a package on eBay form digitalcityhosting.com for $10 A YEAR!)

I agree with the rest. If you can afford it, start you own blog with your own hosting account. You can do it for about $30 a year. I have both self hosted and blogger.com blogs and I without doubt prefer self hosted WordPress blogs.

Here is a short article that may help you with starting out:

like he said its not very expensive at all plus your users feel like they are reading professional site and branding is very important also..

As far as blogger you could have people stumble exchange your posts and that will bring you free traffic

maybe im not making myself clear:

im doing this not only to boost my current sales attempts, but first and foremost, this is experience, so i get a feel for how to do things

i do not, and will not, be owning my own site within the next month >.<

i understand how much of a difference it can make, ive read through post after post and i know it makes a huge different to have total control over your site, and being able to own your own to build it to your needs, but thats just not an option right now, i dont have the time to invest into it just yet, nor the resources to make it worth while, and i dont want to waste cash, so right now im just after experience, and possibly a sale here n there.

i appriciate the fast responces, but i would like to get some actual "content tips" if you will, as i know i need to get my own site up and running, thats a key step in everything im trying to do, but i want some experience in doing this before i start to invest into it

Well, my article addresses some of your questions. You need to add fresh content as often as possible. If you can do five posts a day, that is fine to as long as they are good content and do not just look like spam or garbage.

Write about something that interest you not just something that is popular. Of course you do want to target certain keywords but don't over stuff them if they do not flow with the post. It is better to have less posts with quality than a bunch of posts that are crap.

    makes sense

    question:

will google like me more/just as much/less out of these 2 options:

    examples:

    A. i create 1 post, that is a full article in its own right, well over 1000 words sort of thing, and say, i use my keywords 50 times

    B. i create multiple posts over the course of a month or so, with smaller content, much less words per post, and the end result is again, 50 or so keywords, but spread throughout the entire set of posts

also, is writing a blog the same as articles as far as generating traffic, digg, stumble, keywords, and backlinks, or (unlike with article writing on pages like ezine and squidoo and hubpages) can i submit them to directories?

also, if im able to submit the articles on ezine/squid/hub to directories? if so anyoen got a list i could get from them? :D

and on a side note: i seem to REALLY suck at getting on google...if anyone has any tips there...or would be willing to look over my article and tell me how to improve, id really appriciate it

More posts, updated more frequently will get you indexed faster. Once you are indexed you can "train" spiders to visit your site more often by posting as often as possible.

A good guide would be to post around 10 articles a week for 3 or 4 weeks.

After that, you can knock it down to around 3 or 4 a week.

If you're using wordpress just set the time stamp for your posts for some time in the future. This way, you can make your post whenever it's convenient for you but it won't go live until the time you designate. It's most likely best to make sure that your posts don't go live every day at the same time so make sure you mix it up a little.
