Sand box is a kind of google's supplimental index, where google keep those websites which it thought suspicious. By saying suspicious I mean that google do not trust the website's authenticity in terms of the visitors' experience. Also the sand box applies to only new websites. If you are promoting a new website, doing lots of stuff to get back links it may sand boxed.

Can someone dumb down for me what SEO is considered spammy, blackhat or outside of google rules?I see lots of reference to suspicious activity but don't see anyone describe in detail what that means or looks like.
I am not to sure on this one, Google sandbox, as with one site I developed: whatislitigation.net, in the first 3 hours of sending it live to Google on 20th March, Google immediately put it on page one rank 7 or 8 and its stayed there ever since. I have tried websites with different extensions and no such luck, it takes months to get seen on Google. This is the first time in years of developing has this happened straight to page one!!!! very puzzling with regards to sandbox etc.
Sandbox effect is keyword based. If you have a new website that is trying to rank for a very competitive keyword. Then chances are there that the new website will be for some time under observation and it wont rank for your main term. This time period in which it is not visible for the main keyword or term it is called Sandbox period

I don't know clear idea about sandbox.. post some non quality site's links in our site means google put our site in to sandbox..
