Information about Google SERPS fluctuating???

    Hi all

I understand the SERPs is fluctuating right now? I have an interesting example of this...

My homepage seems to have droped away on some of the more competitive terms that I used to appear in Google for.

For example, for some keywords my homepage is now in a position at the bottom of page 1 (e.g. position 10 whereas before I would be in the top 2 or 3 positions) but for others I am nowhere to be seen. My competitors dont seem to have moved at all?!?!

Does Google not find my homepage relevant anymore? The SERP are fluctuating I understand - but is this a bad sign for my homepage? I find it strange that Google has picked my site alone (within the particular keywords) - as I said my competitors are unaffected?

Also - some of my internal pages are getting stronger on less competitive terms - a good sign for them?

I must admit I could do with the homepage being unaffected more than my internal pages climbing in Google.

    ****SPECIFIC EXAMPLE****

Further more I have found a really weird/interesting example to share with you.

On google.co.uk for the term "bespoke shirts" I was in position 11 and 12 at the top of page two (for my homepage and my mens-shirts page). Over the last few days these listings have vanished.

Instead at position 20, my FAQ page is now showing? Does this mean google thinks my FAQ page is more relevant to the term bespoke shirts than my content relevant homepage or specific men's shirts page???

    Kind regards

    Paul

I have a site that is going thru the exact same thing. I was ranked as high as #5 for hyper competitive keywords and now the site is gone. My competitors are staying the same but my internal pages are climbing quickly. Not really sure what to think of this Algo.

One of my sites that keeps going in and out of SERPS has gone yet again. This time it was in the SERPS for about 4 days but dissapeared again. There does some to be some valatility in the SERPS . Its now dissapeared about 5 times in the last 3 months.

Maybe ur homepage has lost some links in the last one or 2 months? Or your competitors have gained some?

Maybe homepage has some Google flter due to aggressive linking, linking to bad places?

Maybe you have added some links to your homepage recently?

Hard to say without following your site.

    Ah

One thing I did do recently is buy an advert in a wedding magazine for my personalised collar stays. This put my advert on 100 pages (one for each county of England). Could this be it? Is this aggressive? We have had a good response from the advert in terms of click through and sales.

I have just had a look on the wedding site and the pages have PR3.

If I have been filtered will it be for good? Will google let me back in a some point?

That would not expalin total dissapearance though, will it? I mean, I can understand a loss of few places or even a page or two for some keywords but not losing every single keyword.

I would make sure your site has some high PR sites linking to it. Link profile is the reason i believe i have had a drop in ranks recently but this should pick up again soon with new link building efforts.

I am seeing a lot of fluctuation on a site that I just did an overhaul on. First pages are indexed, then not, then new cached pages for a few days and today old cache's are showing up. I certainly hope that the dust settles soon. I can't tell where she will be. Dizzying!!!!
