No, the renew is about $9 , that cheap price is just for first registration. I have registered 200 .info domains from registerfly wich is out of business now,the price was just $0.60 ,and i sold for $300 each, but i left most of them to expire!
They are cheap for the first year, but the pricing goes back to normal after the first year. Namecheap offers it @ $5.88/yr for the first, and $9.29 from the second year onwards. The prices will of course be a bit lower at other registrars like Godaddy and Name.com
Basically if you are going to keep the website more then one year. You are better off buying .com domains?
.info does have its place though. In fact, some .info sites can be very valuable. It all depends on the purpose of the site. For a commercial, main-stream site - .com is better. But for an informational site, or even a blog, .info is Ok.
You can check DirectDot for .info and other TLD's good pricing and support. Registration includes free privacy on most TLDs
You can renew at most registers the same price as .com etc and of course you can use a coupon to renew as well for larger registers.
In powerhoster.com the first year of .info is $1.99, the second year is $4.99; the third year is $6.79 and the fourth year is $7.39
???? This is "Domain Pricing Per Year". That means that if you register .info for 2 years you pay $10. Not 2+5=7!!!
