Info Vilesilencer Updated

Hi all,

It's taken another month, but its all up to date again.

If you are a directory owner it is a good idea to attempt to get listed in Info Vilesilencer. We are currently experiencing extremely high traffic levels, and this will reflect in your referrer logs when you see where the bulk of your visits come from.

Not only that, since the site is also designed heavily around the excel spreadsheet, you can probably triple the number on your referrers that come from Info Vilesilencer, as many more people download the spreadsheet (3500+ last month) and use that to submit from (thus sending no referrer).

I do have a strong criteria, which is why the list is compact - but that same criteria is what drives the traffic to the list. A lot of new directories eventually switch to paid after they see their increase in traffic, and I fully expect this, so it is ok to jump onto the list knowing that at some stage in the near future your prerogative is to convert to a paid-model.

If your sick of struggling for traffic, and your directory is seo friendly + free, then it's time you were listed on Info Vilesilencer. It costs you nothing, and you will see just how powerful a link from the site/excel is when you are listed.

Two directories are listed in Vilesilencer list i have to say i got lots of referal from your list...

If your's is not Paid directory and meet the criteria than must suggest to this list to get traffic

The best thing to do is sign up at his forum, take the time to read the update thread and learn what he is, and isn't looking for to make the list(s).

I'm getting considerable traffic from his site to my directory since the new list was released yesterday. I had the initial influx of submissions from DP for a week or so, then things slowed down. Once I made this list, things have picked back up considerably.

I'm surprised at the amount of traffic and submissions I'm getting. Head over to his forum, spend twenty minutes or so reading the update thread for what he is/isn't looking for and if your site meets his requirements, request it be added. It's really that easy to do, and definitely worth the 20 minutes or so of your time.

I tried to add Linkspub.com.

U said it was not Seo Friendly.

So I added it to directorylist.org and directorycritic.com

 

Hopefully my PR5 Blogs Directory will qualify for a listing

GTech - you've highlighted exactly what needs to be done, thanks I will take a look at any directories that are mentioned in this thread though.

Adnan - I never said your site wasn't SEO friendly, I said it wasn't user friendly which is an entirely different thing altogether. You were given a lot of useful feedback from the forum members or have you forgotten? It's your choice where you want to list your directory (you should list on all of them) but the simple fact is, you won't get as much traffic as what I will send you.

Was that what it was. Not user friendly. Ok, i trust you. What I do recall is you telling me that it is kind of hard to submit a site into my directory. Well of course.

I can't really leave an open hole like linketeria, where anyone can turn in anything that he wants. They get about 3000 - 3500 submissions each month. I surely don't have the time to approve that many listings.

I gave it a thought and I'm sticking with the process I have right now.

To nitpick (because I needed a few rounds):

1. better point out that you do NOT want the trailing slash in URLs.
Example: we at SL list as "http://info.vilesilencer.com/" whereas you insist on "info.vilesilencer.com" . That's fine, of course, just that "info.vilesilencer.com/" is NOT an inner page.

2. I hope I can recover the HTML code somewhere - you could repeat it on the "Thank You"-page;

3. A character counter for the text fields would be helpful, PM me if interested and I'll send you the JS code;

4. I would like to put some icon to the link, is that ok ?"

As for the traffic, we already have a business plan and modules which will take this site to the top 1000 on the internet. Guaranteed.

Good point, but then its also not necessary to make it so difficult for people to submit. Look at the phpld directory users. They use a simple captcha that would stop most automated submits.

I don't require the URL's to be structured in any particular way, you did. However, you didn't state this in your guidelines. That's all we were pointing out. Whether you accept domain.com, http://domain.com or http://domain.com/ is entirely up to you, but if you don't inform your users when they are filling in the form how will they ever know?
