I've been here to long to be a noob, but just how do you determine or see that it has authority status?

You see that it's an authority because it has the four links like the attachment.

It takes an authority to be an authority like IVS.

Interesting, when searching www.google.com from Australia, info.vilesilencer.com isn't listed as an authority site, I have to use proxify to see the sub-listings. First time I've seen geo-targeting come in to play on authority.

Aviva,Alive, vilesilencer, the list of authority sites related with directory goes on...increasing

This illustrates that Google pays more attention to quality directories!

I like the trend too, so the talk about google devaluing web directory listings could be all hot air and no fire :)

That depends on how they determine authority status. Is it an automatic thing which kicks in at a certain pagerank or count of inbound links for the entire site, or is it manual? I would suspect the former.

But however they decided it, Google got it right this time.
