.info sites and dashed .com sites

    I have a couple questions...

    1. What do you think of .info sites? Will they rank decent on search engines? I have a few sites I want to register that are .info and have the exact keyword phrase for the sites. How do you think they will rank?

    2. I have a couple more sites I want to register that have the exact keyword phrase but include dashes between the keywords. For example, I am trying to rank for [feed the fish today] but the domain name will be "www.Feed-The-Fish-Today.com" Do you think dashes between words in .com's will rank better than other sites? Or would it be better if you registered something like "www.GoFeedTheFishToday.com" (Put the "Go" in front because that .com would be available)

Please let me know what you know/think

Usually .info URLs have less preference over a .com domain. This is because spammers have used it widely and its considered mostly as a spam url ( personal opinion, Pros may tell other thing )...

I would recommend to go for .com if you are planning to optimise...

Would a .com domain name with dashes still rank pretty well? Lets say I searched for [blue dog bed] would blue-dog-bed.com be a good domain to have since bluedogbed.com would be taken?

I think "blue-dog-bed.com" and "bluedogbed.com" both get the same advantage from having keywords in them from SE's point of view. However, if you want your visitors to remember it and get some type in traffic, I suggest not to use hyphens in your domain.

It would just be to get ranked for searches for the most part. Doing affiliate marketing/adsense stuff like that.

Dashes in the url are fine and rank well. There is an issue with remembering the domain and giving it out over the phone.

I like the .info tld but as mentioned it is spammed out.

Did a little bit of research on it and a saw some people talking about using it for spam. I know someone that setup a .info domain for the niche acai berry and hair loss and sold it for $250. Maybe I will buy a few .info domains and see if I can flip them or something like he did.

Thank you all for your input! Greatly appreciated :)

This forum is great by the way. Glad I finally joined!

IMO, it doesn't matter, url should be easy to remember, and yes, they do rank fine.
Infact there are many info sites rankings on top of Google.
