.info domains are crap IMO.Between .net and .org,either it's ok for me.But I'll go for .com domains if they are available.
It depends on the domain purpose. For example, I prefer Dictionary.info than any other extensions. In addition, WebDevelopers.org seems to work perfectly
I agree .net is more preferrable over .org and .info but in some cases it would depend on the name also.
I can't give any examples, but .info is definitely the best out of those listed above for sites giving information about something. Otherwise, for a general site, .net is by far the best.
Check for pagerank checker and the following site is positioned number 1 out of the 9,830,000 results: www.prchecker.info
Some SEOs think .org get a preference in SERPs by Google though there's no way it can be proved either way.
I think there is some truth in it, especially for certain terms...I find the first 5 pages filled with .org sites for certain terms, mostly those to do with worthy causes. Then again maybe no one does sites like those with .com
It really depends on what you're using the name for. Like for an informational site for example, .info would be the best choice.
My thoughts exactly. Every website serves its own purpose, some to sell products, some to sell services, some are communities, blogs, etc etc. .info is the perfect extension for a website providing any kind of information, whereas .net and .org do not have any specific context, although I would say .net is stronger than .org because it's easier to remember.
If you are creating a normal site (blog, estore, etc.) I would suggest you use the .net. If you are creating a community/forum site I would suggest you use the .org. As for .info, these are great for information sites. If you can get one with a city, state, hot destination name or if you can get a one (two word max) dictionary word, that would be great for info. Good Luck, T4L
Any commercial application use the dot net. Generice word or name use net or org. Since the free info giveaway .info has fallen off the charts. Sure there will still be good sites on .infos but there were SOOOO many spammers using .infos as throw away sites and email addresses. They could crank out spam and if their domain got blacklisted they'd use another one etc etc etc. I dont think they thought about this when they decided to do the free info giveaway.
For SEO and 'Prestige' purposes, you should go for .com if available. If that's not in the basket, then go for .net, then .org. If neither works, I'd look for a different domain...
depends on the site. in a lot of cases .org is really a great choice when .com isn't available. people seem to mistakenly be under the assumption you're automatically a non-profit, and seem to respect you a bit more because of it. of course, if the site's blatantly commercial there wouldn't be much benefit to that.
