I have wasted more time looking at junk info than I care to admit. Finally a place to get expert advice without the hype. I apologize for the long winded intro that follows but here it is:

I am new to eBooks, website design, affiliates, advertising,Adsense etc. What I do know a lot about is helping families treat children with autism. Over a two year period my wife and I wrote an >200 page eBook with all the information we wish we had after our son was diagnosed. For all of you who care enough to read this, but don't know about autism-it is a terrible disease that affects 1:150 kids today. It is terrible because causes severe disability with language, socialization and physical development. One of the worst things about it is that doctors (at least in the USA) don't tell parents that there are very effective ways to treat the disease. So lots of kids end up disabled for no good reason!

We figured out that there were excellent treatments out there but it took lots of digging through eCrap and helped to have a Ph.D. degree in biochemistry.

Many parents asked us why our son was getting so much better while their kids were not. We decided to write an eBook to help them and the thousands of others who do nothing because they are not told what to do to help their kids.

So for our site http://www.conquerautism.com we:

    1. got a webhost and build a website w about 25 pages of content
    2. setup a clickbank account to sell ($29.99) and encourage affiliates
    3. wrote a bulletin board on the subject - with no other contributors yet
4.started a blog on the subject to give away the info slowly - with no other contributors yet
    5. started adwords April 1 and adsense (on the blog) april 15
    6. written 3 published eZIne articles
7.submitted the site to a bunch of listing sites like google, yahoo, dmoz
    8. tried some SEO on the sites we list in adwords
    9. USed wordtracker to get a nice list of key words and phrases.

I know enough to realize that although we have only been at this since april 1, we have not done a good enough job. We have a stunningly low CTR of 0.1% on some words (up to 4% on one low ranking key word phrase) and a poor ranking on most. Most importantly, we have sold several books by word of mouth but none through our adwords ($150/month).

I can tell by the quality of most of the posts on this site that the expertise we need to get the word out is present here and seems to be willing to help.

So thats my introduction. I really hope that one or more of the experts on this site will take up our cause. I wish we had the money to pay for an expert, but we don't - and I really do want to learn.

    So thanks in advance.

Maybe try doing it for a good cause? Give the E-book away for free. And I highly doubt that you have more information than the doctor who diagnosed the child with Autism in the first place. I suggest you give your E-book away for free until it gets some popularity and then start selling it. Don't try to sell an E-book with a new website because it just makes your site look grimy. I personally don't dare to Go on websites that sell E-books with people who don't know about the topic they write about and just get their content from wikipedia and try to make some quick cash.

If you want to sell something people have to trust you, you just don't go and offer something and people will buy it. There needs to be a factor that makes a person want your product. And don't make a website/e-book unless there is a need for it, otherwise you will be wasting your time. Take this from personal Experience.

The best of luck with your site, and I hope your son is ok.

    I agree with Germz.....

If I were to stumbleupon your site from a google search, it would look like you are just trying to scam people into buying an Autism ebook. The website already has great info about Autism.....

instead of charging for the E-book.....maybe ask for a suggested donation instead?
