Well, I have a confusion. While doing manual directory submission for a website, the use of free mail id'(gmail,yahoo,hotmail.com) is a disadvantage in comparison to domain email id's or not? Does it has amy effect on site acceptance parameter. Any help will be great for me. Thanks in advance.
I review a submission mostly on the content of the site. I dont decline a submission because of its email address.
Most wont mind if the email addy doesn't match the domain, especially with free directories, although if you were promoting something quite professional you obviously wont look too cool using a hotmail addy.
I don't think it matters anywhere what your email is. People are just looking for their directory to get links. If your email domain doesn't match your website's domain doesn't matter
it is depend, if directory want to spam your email than they would require domain email becasue they know that once they send you/spam your email they would not be reject or you would pay attantion. Now, if some one using submit at gmail.com or links at yahoo.com they people use that email only to submit a site so they know that their email might be spam so they don't worry bother checking all email. Inthis case directory owner know that too that is the reason they require to have domain emial not gmail, yahoo or any other. Suggestion: Don't submit a site to them who reqire domain URL or suggest them to add url without email. even yahoo, google, live, dmoz they don't reuire to have domain email so why others. We don't care as long as is good email so we can send link approved email.
We offer free submissions which attracts all kinds of people and sites, what we found though is that the poorest quality submissions and those of a, shall we say, unsuitable nature were all being submitted from free email addresses. Therefore in order to keep the level of junk at manageable levels we refuse to accept submissions into the review queue where they have been submitted with a free web mail address. For us at any rate it was either take this action or change the directory to paid only. If you're worried about getting spammed on your main company email address just create an address used only for submissions.
For my experience in directory submission, directory owner don't look for the email... It's the content of the site and relevancy in categories. Just follow their guidelines and don't spam..
It is a very good point you make there rumki, make no mistake about it. In an ideal world you'd want the domain to match the e-mail, for example site A, is submitted to you by . You could go the extra mile on checking it's authenticity by checking the headers of the mail to match the IP of the site being submitted as well, the sky is the limit on security checks. But sadly this isn't an ideal world and a large number of people, me for one tend to use free accounts to back up domain one's for a number of reasons so in answer I'd say no to making it a criteria.
Submitted site should be informative and useful for visitors, no matter what email used for submissions.
